Robert De Niro to Star in the Warner Bros Wise Guys Movie

Robert De Niro has reportedly signed on to star in the Warner Bros. mob drama Wise Guys. The film will be directed by Barry Levinson, who directed the Emmy-winning HBO TV movie The Wizard of Lies. The director is also the director of Wag the Dog and Oscars best picture winner Rain Man. Robert De Niro will play two roles in the film. He will play a crooked financier and a rogue entrepreneur.

The Wise Guys is a period piece, following the story of two Italian-American crime bosses, Vito Genovese and Frank Costello. Both men tried to kill each other in 1957, but a botched attempt by Genovese wounded Costello, forcing him to retire. Robert De Niro is expected to play both characters, and the movie still doesn’t have a release date.

The film will reunite Robert De Niro with the director of “Whats Just Happened”. It is based on the novel by Nicholas Pileggi, which inspired Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas.
